The "Großer Arber", the "king of the Bavarian Forest" is with 1456 m the highest mountain of the Bavarian-Bohemian massif. The Rissloch waterfalls, the glacial lakes, the primeval forest and, most of all, its crest protruding above the limit of vegetation give it its distinctive character. A modern 6 seat cable car will bring visitors comfortably to the top station. From there it is just a short hike to the summit cross!

The Lusen (1373 m) is the third highest mountain of the Bavarian Forest. His enormous granite mount is a geological peculiarity. Below the summit is a mountain hut with catering. From May until October the Igel-bus will bring visitors up to the Lusen parking place.

The trail to the most beautiful waterfall of the Bavarian Forest, starts at the station of Bodenmais and lasts approx. 2,5 hours. It leads along the Riesbach up to the so-called Sprungschanze, over a bridge to the waterfall, which sweeps 1,5 km towards the valley. For families a drive with the Arber mountain cable car is recommended.

Grenzübertritt nur vom 1.4. bis zum 31.10. täglich von 8 bis 18 Uhr möglich! Simple walking-tour on easy trails for shorter trips (1,5 hours) or longer ones (2,5 to 3 hours). The way to the artificially designed canal starts from St. Oswald near Haslach to the old tollhouse for shorter trips, and, for longer trips also across the border to the Czech Repuplic. Border crossing is only possible between April 1st and October 31st, from 08:00 - 18:00 hours!

From the viewpoint "Bärenstein" (bear stone) with a height of 1077 metres, you will enjoy a marvellous view to the Czech Republic, to the Moldau reservoir and into the Mühlviertel.
